The papers, 1931-1981, contain letters, periodicals, advertisements, greeting cards, announcements, invitations, brochures, instructions, lists, reports, fact sheets, books, bills, receipts, financial statements, political campaign information, news clippings, articles, health information, sheet music, and photographs. Sheet music publication dates range from 1931-1974. The collection was damaged in the Elba, Alabama flood of 1990. Numerous photographs of Governor Wallace, Cornelia Wallace, family members, and friends were salvaged. Also in the collection, are original manuscripts of the Cornelia Wallace autobiography "C'Nelia", and a biographical interview with Cornelia's mother, Ruby Folsom Ellis Austin. Included is an assortment of various alternative methods of healing and therapy, sent to the Governor following his paralysis resulting from the 1971 assassination attempt. The papers of Charles Ellis are included in this collection. They consist of get well cards from April to June of 1960 during his hospitalization for cancer, as well as several notes and letters.

Cornelia Wallace was born 1939 January 28 to Charles and Ruby Ellis in the City of Elba, in Coffee County, Alabama. The family later moved to Cullman after the death of Sarah Folsom, wife of Ruby's brother James, to help raise his two daughters.
